Bat experts and enthusiasts from around the country gathered at Indiana State University Saturday, Aug. 11, for the 6th Annual Great Lakes Bat Conference, an event organized to promote bat conservation. Topics included the benefits of bats, bat houses, bat research, bat conservation, public health and more. Activities included live bat programs, an inflatable cave, kids activities, kids story time, book authors, bat house information, a new US Forestery Service film "Caves: Life Beneath the Forest," and bat merchandise for sale including the ISU Bat Centers first publication "Bats of Indiana." An evening BBQ took place at Dobbs Park with bat research demonstrations immediately following including netting, radio-tagging, bat detectors and light tagging.
